Event celebrates Civilian Conservation Corps milestone | recordonline.com.

The Ten Mile River Scout Museum, at 1481 Crystal Lake Road, Narrowsburg, will host a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and CCC Camp Ten Mile River from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 4.

The event is open to the public at no cost.

Highlights of the event include

Displays of CCC artifacts and memorabilia

Displays by local historical museums and a National Park Service exhibit

CCC-related souvenirs and literature for sale

Guided walks of the CCC Camp Ten Mile River site

Viewings of a documentary on the CCC

Dedication of a CCC Camp Ten Mile River historical marker

A panel discussion on the CCC moderated by Peter Osborne, with CCC historians John Dowd, Diane Galusha and FDR interpreter Jonah Triebwasser

A formal presentation on the history of the CCC
