The Ten Mile River Scout Museum is currently offering a 1952 Wooden Old Town 16′ Yankee Canoe on eBay.
Clicking on the image will bring you to the eBay auction for the next few months.
The description indicates:
This is sold as is, it has the defects noted below but would make a great project boat to restore it to its original glory.
It is sturdy (meaning it can be carried without bowing), all ribs are intact and all seem to be in good shape-no cracks, no fractures.
The gunwales are complete as are the breast plates and the keel. No seats, no thwarts or yoke.
The wooden, sheer skin is complete and as shown this canoe has no spraydeck (barrier between the water and the skin keeping the water out). is without any holes, bruises etc.
The skin as I am describing is a very thin layer of milled wood and is in good shape and will accept canvas (spraydeck) as the original 1952 design had.
It is available for inspection/pickup at the TMR Museum in the Headquarters area in Narrowsburg, NY.
